Our Process
Whether you dream of transforming one room or the entire house, the seasoned professionals at Alderwood Builders welcome your project. We’ll follow our proven process to create a detailed plan, apply a classic, timeless and simple style, and make your vision a reality.
The Alderwood Builders approach to any project is based on an established three-step process that has taken years to develop. It means that throughout your project, you’ll always be informed about what is happening, when it’s occurring, and who will be working on your job.
Step #1 - Initial Interview
This step typically kicks off a conversation about your project. From there, we’ll:
Set up an initial onsite meeting.
Listen and understand your overall vision.
Discuss the project scope and estimated costs.
Measure space.
Photograph space.
Ask questions.
Step #2 - Walk-Through with Tradesmen
Deliver Specifications and Recommendations:
Coordinate with designers/structural engineer as required.
Bring your vision to life in renderings and floor plans.
Walk-through of your home with our tradesmen.
Begin materials and fixtures selection.
Make Revisions:
Rework plans to ensure you are inspired and excited about the project so far.
Draft documents for final design.
Step #3 - Construction Agreement
During this step, we’ll produce an estimate that details everything that we are building and supplying for your project. It details when materials and finishes will be delivered and when our tradespeople will be working on your project. We create our project schedules based on material availability; doing this avoids long “down-times” and makes for a smooth completion process.
Finalize estimate based on design and selections.
Order materials.
Create project schedule based off material estimated time of arrival
Start a group text that includes the customers, our project manager, our estimator, and Alderwood Builders owner, Scott McAuley, to ensure everyone is on the same page throughout the length of the job. This text will be used daily to give customers information about who and when subs will be onsite, what work was completed, and what is coming up next. This group text also creates an easy way for customers to reach out to Alderwood Builders with any questions or concerns. We are big believers in good communication - we feel it can make or break any project.
